Whitehall Fall Sports Roundup Trojans Continue Early-Season Schedule

Fall sports are underway at Whitehall High School, with the Trojans competing in football, volleyball and cross country as the 2026 season moves into its early weeks. Here is a rundown of the team's season thus far.

FOOTBALL: Whitehall opened the season with a 54-6 home win over Deer Lodge on August 28. The Trojans have dropped their last three games, falling 30-27 at Thompson Falls on September 4, 60-14 at Three Forks on September 10 and 32-7 to Jefferson on September 18. Whitehall enters its fifth game with a 1-3 record.

Up Next: The Trojans will now trave to Big Timber on September 25.

VOLLEYBALL: Whitehall opened the 2026 volleyball season with a pair of losses, falling in straight sets to Townsend and Jefferson.

The Trojans began the season September 5 at Townsend, dropping a 3-0 decision at Broadwater High School.

Whitehall returned to action September 17, hosting Jefferson in its second match of the season. The Panthers also earned a 3-0 victory. Whitehall enters its next match still looking for its first win of the season.

Up Next: Whitehall will look to pick up its first win of the 2026 season when the Trojans travel to Sheridan on September 24. The match is scheduled for 4 PM at Sheridan High School. Whitehall enters the matchup 0-2 after opening the season with straight-set losses to Townsend on September 5 and Jefferson on September 17. The Trojans will look to build on their first two matches and get into the win column against Sheridan.

CROSS COUNTRY: In cross country at the Billings Invitational on August 28, (XC) Whitehall's Ember Hunt and Roam Hunt finished first and second in the boys junior varsity 5,000-meter race. Hunt won the race with a time of 17:16.31, while Roam Hunt finished runner-up in 17:21.19. Both Whitehall freshmen turned in top-two finishes.

Trojan XC had three runners compete in the girls varsity 5,000-meter race. Aurora Koenig finished 101st overall with a time of 25:23.88, followed by Katie Ebert in 145th at 26:40.97 and Evelinn Scarborough in 169th at 27:38.17.

At the Run BXC Invitational on September 4 at Gallatin County Regional Park, freshmen Ember Hunt and Roam Hunt led the Whitehall boys in the 5,000-meter varsity/JV combined race. Hunt placed third in 17:27, while Roam Hunt was 10th in 18:06.

In the girls race, freshman Katie Ebert placed 91st in 28:31. Freshman Ailli Murphy was 92nd in 28:33, followed by sophomore Aurora Koenig in 93rd at 28:38.

Whitehall competed at the Pony Meet on September 10 at Pony Park. Hunt led the Trojans with a second-place finish in the boys varsity 5,000-meter race in 18:53. Roam Hunt was fourth in 19:18, while junior Max Fernstrom placed 30th in 23:58. Freshman Robert Einboden finished 16th in the JV 5,000-meter race in 23:47. In the girls JV 5,000-meter race, sophomore Evelinn Scarborough placed sixth in 28:28. Ebert was seventh in 28:35. Whitehall did not have a runner in the girls varsity race.

Whitehall cross country traveled to Missoula on Saturday, September 19, to compete in the Mountain West Classic at the University of Montana Golf Course. The meet featured a large field of runners competing on the 5-kilometer course.

At the Mountain West Classic, Whitehall's boys cross country team was led by ninth-graders Ember Hunt and Roam Hunt. Ember Hunt placed 25th in 16:39.1, while Roam Hunt finished 52nd in 17:05.0. Robert Einboden also competed for Whitehall, placing 461st in 2:01:14.0. On the girls' side, Evelinn Scarborough placed 154th in the junior varsity 5-kilometer race in 25:57.0, followed by Katie Ebert in 178th in 26:29.4.
