Head Start continuing in Whitehall

There was recently some good news for the Whitehall Head Start Program.

According to Bob Mullen, Jefferson County Commissioner, the Rocky Mountain Development Council Board of Directors and the Head Start Policy Council have voted unanimously to continue the Whitehall Head Start Program for the upcoming school year.

Following concerns about filling a teacher position (upon the retirement of Elaine Henningsen) and about enrollment of a sufficient number of students, Mullen reports that “all concerns of the Board and Policy Council have been met and I’m pleased for these young three and four-year old students that will benefit from this wonderful preschool program.”

Mullen also expressed his thanks to Elaine Henningsen, not only for her many years of classroom excellence, but her huge efforts in ensuring that the number of eligible children necessary were enrolled. “Even following her retirement she continued to make the efforts to meet the imposed requirements necessary to ensure program continuation”, Mullen said.

Mullen also wants the Whitehall community to understand how he appreciates the assistance and patience of the Rocky Mountain Development Council Head Start staff and the Head Start Policy Council in reaching this excellent outcome for the program.
