The Whitehall Garden Club (WGC) met Wednesday, December 6th at hostess Glenna Waltee's festive home, the event starting with delicious treats and lots of visiting. The first action of the day was the official installation of officers, which culminated in Kathy Ross as president; Jayne Dean as vice President, and Laura Horn as secretary/treasurer. Several organizations have offered to contribute additional funding to raise the cash reward for information on a wolverine killed illegally northwest of Wisdom in November. Donating organizations include the Animal Defense Fund, Trap Free Montana, Skyline Sportsmen in Butte, the Center for Biological Diversity, and FWP’s TIP-MONT program. The Christmas Festival is around the corner and the Library will host its normal packed schedule of activities and treats. On Saturday, December 9th, the Library will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM and will begin the day with the Friends Book Sale at 9 AM. Books will be $1 a bag for the day. The Whitehall High School Honor Society (WHSHS) was able to present the Whitehall food pantry with a check for $550 on November 29. This money was collected during Cat/Griz week in the K-12 classrooms. Honor Society members went around each morning and collected money for the Cats or the Griz in their buckets. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Frontier West, Inc. have paused bridge work between Helena and Jefferson City for the winter. Construction will resume in the spring.
