Last Thursday, the school students made their annual shopping trip for a special child in the Whitehall area. The Cougars hosted Harrison at 4pm that afternoon. Each year local residents come together to build wreaths for the Whitehall Christmas Stroll Wreath Auction. In its 18th year, the event serves as not only a fundraiser for the Whitehall Food Pantry, but also raises thousands of dollars for numerous local non-profit organizations. Thanksgiving begins the Holy Days Celebrations. Among the many dinners, etc., the annual Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the staff and students (and some Moms) of the Cardwell School, triggers the festivities for many. Nearly 100 individuals, businesses, and organizations make up the membership of the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce. This year, The Chamber Board determined that member retention was more important than ever and moved to create a program that would focus on recognizing their members in an effort to demonstrate their appreciation. The 2nd and 3rd graders spent some time building during the after school program this week. They used various materials during their construction. Towers were built using popsicle sticks, clothes pins, and binder clips. They also used pencils, blocks, Legos, and dominoes to construct other structures. December is here and the Library schedule is full of fun holiday activities. Tuesday afternoons, December 6 and 13 at 2:00 p.m. will be the adult ornament making classes. There was a record number in attendance at the 19th Annual Festival of Trees event that took place last Thursday night at the GranTree Inn in Bozeman. According to Festival of Trees Chairman and Liberty Place Executive Director Ann Geiger, over 290 attended the fundraising event. Through the assistance of two recent grants, the Partners United For Life Saving Education (P.U.L.S.E.) was recently able to donate a Power Load Cot System to Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue. It was not only historic to the news media, but Cassidi Shaw finished her Cosmetology Schooling, voted in her first presidential election and best of all, Lane Brush proposed and she said ‘Yes’!!. The Speech, Drama, and Debate team attended their first meet on Saturday November 19th in Townsend. The team did well with tough competition from schools in classes AA, A, B, and C also attending. Whitehall High School students are just days away from their performance of "Arsenic and Old Lace". The annual fall play at the school is scheduled for Monday, November 21 and Tuesday November 22. Both performances are slated for 7 p.m. Drama Director Cheri Shaw said the play written in 1939 by Joseph Kesselring is a classic, and really fit with the cast she has. The LDS Church Harvest Dinner is scheduled for Friday, November 18. The popular annual event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church located at Mormon Lane and Yellowstone in Whitehall. According to the Chamber, the contest is a way of encouraging the entire Whitehall Community to decorate and beautify businesses during the winter holiday season. At their annual Business Meeting Monday, Chamber members elected Don Chlebeck as Vice President, and Nick Jenkins and Jan Thorne to the Board of Directors. The kids gave recipes to the after school program teachers for the cookbook. My mom wrote my recipe for me, and I wrote my name where it says "from ____________ kitchen".
