No one had to dream of a white Christmas! The white fluffy stuff (called snow) was beautiful but created a variety of situations - cattle feeding, highway hazards. On the other hand, it provided the perfect setting for skis and sleds. In Job 38:22, God asked Job if he had “entered the treasures of the snow”? That’s interesting. Also, there is nothing whiter than snow. Check it out.

LilyAnna Howell turned four and celebrated at home with family and friends. The kids destroyed the pinata and enjoyed the filling. She also was the guest of honor at Head Start. Later, her dad, Andrew, took her and her brother, Jordan, to California to see their mom and grandparents.

The Christmas program at the school featured music from each grade. Under the direction of Mrs. Kyla Simon, each group performed a couple of songs. The 7th and 8th grades ended the evening with a song entitled ‘Peace’. It was beautiful. Of course, no program at the school is complete until Santa arrives. That evening was no different. The students had decorated a gorgeous evergreen that nearly reached to the gym ceiling. Very, very beautiful.

The Whitehall Pinochle Club met before all of the traveling and celebrating was to begin. Margaret Irish hosted the group and gave prizes to Marion Poff for High; Patty Strozzi. Second as well as for 1500 trump. Low went to Florence Weyer and Pinochle to Gladys Ballard. Lucile Buchanan will hostess next.

Richard “Dick” Green, passed away recently and his services will be held at 11:00 am at the mortuary in Harrison on Saturday, December 31st. Close survivors include Lynette Green a niece, and Russ and Sandy Green, a brother.

Why do we do the things we do? Here, it is making memories. Put 30 people in a small area and the decibels can be hard on the ears! Traditions get established sometimes by accident, but it takes effort to make them happen. My kids humor me by coming to my home on Christmas Eve - first we go to the church services and then we EAT and watch the cousins enjoy time together. Tonight, everyone has gone home and the house is quiet, but I am blessed by them being here. Happy New Year!
