Smith, Feight shine at Top 10 meet

Two Whitehall High School athletes shined amidst tremendous competition Tuesday at the Russ Pilcher Top 10 Track and Field Meet in Missoula.

Senior Braden Smith finished second in the triple jump, and junior Max Feight finished fifth in the 300 hurdles at 20th annual meet that features the top competitors from all classes in the western side of Montana.

Smith had a jump of 42' ½". The first place finisher was Class AA competitor Elias Dewaters of Missoula Sentinel High School with a leap 42' 4.5".

Feight finished with a time of 42.10. Drew Deck of Glacier High School (Kalispell) won the race with a time of 40.64 seconds.

"I was extremely impressed with the outcome of Braden and Max competing in the Top 10 meet in Missoula yesterday. Going up against the top 10 best in the western part of the state can be very nerve racking and they showed up and performed," head coach Dan Lacey said. "That's what is so much fun about competition, being able to perform your best against the best is what you strive for and our athletes did that yesterday."
