Outlaws season ends at state

The Gallatin Valley Outlaws fell one win short of advancing to regionals.

Playing at last week's American Legion Class A Baseball State Tournament in Miles City, Gallatin Valley won two games before they were eliminated after a 2-1 semifinals loss to the Bitterroot Red Sox

The Outlaws squad that features Whitehall players Connor Johnson, Beau Hays, and Ryan Murphy opened state with a 15-6 win over the Laurel Dodges. After losing their second game 5-3 to the Glacier Twins, Gallatin Valley bounced back with a victory over Miles City to set the stage for semifinal matchup against the Red Sox.

Murphy said the team played hardd each and every game.

"It was heartbreaking to lose two close games but we laid it all out on the line. I'm super proud of how we competed with the best teams out there and in baseball some things just don't fall your way. It was a great season and I'm definitely going to miss playing the sport I've played for 15 years," he said.
