2018 General Election Results

Montana voted against two highly publicized ballot initiatives.

In unofficial results from the Montana Secretary of State, voters easily defeated I-186 by a count of 229,072 to 161,440.

I-185 was also defeated by a vote of 215,278 to 178,578.

In Montana House District 71, incumbent Republican Ray Shaw defeated Democratic challenger Jay Frederick by a vote of 3,653 to 1,815. Libertarian Michael White received 841 votes.

In House District 75, Republican Greg Devries defeated Democratic challenger J. Bryher Herak by a vote of 3,332 to 2,474.

In Jefferson County races, Bob Mullen will remain a county commissioner. He defeated challenger David Murray by a vote of 4,037 to 1,703.

Dean Hildebrand is the new Jefferson County Justice of Peace. He defeated challenger Steve Andersen by a vote of 3,027 to 2,702.

Jefferson County voters also approved the Emergency Broadcasting System Mill Ballot by a vote of 4,092 to 2,610.

In federal races, incumbent Democrat John Tester has a lead (as of 11 a.m.) against Republican challenger Matt Rosendale by a vote of 218,145 to 213,934.

In the race for the United States House of Representative, incumbent Republican Greg Gianforte defeated challenger Kathleen Williams by a vote of 219,853 to 182,279.

In the Madison County Commissioner race, Ronald Nye defeated Randy Lowder by a vote of 768 to 445.
