Letter to the Editor: Tell the Senate not to bail out the states

Lawmakers in Washington are back at it again. As we speak, they’re debating whether they should send bailout money to the states. This is not the best path forward. Why? Because many states have mismanaged their budgets for years (well before this pandemic). When the first paycheck stimulus was created in the senate, the total bill was less than a trillion dollars, then the house got ahold of it and it ballooned to 2 trillion dollars. The latest stimulus plan will give 2 more trillion to states, states that have spent their citizen provided revenue like water and then dipped into pension plans to make ends almost meet. States that have for years ignored the laws, Constitution, and Bill of Rights of the United States. If you have never visited the Debt Clock, you should look it up. Type in usdebtclock.org in your search bar. Marvel at how fast the numbers grow. Enjoy the debt to Gross Domestic Product ratio. When I looked on the 8th of May, that ratio was 116%. On the 9th of May, it was 117.75%. That’s 17.75% more than the money we have on hand. Still okay with more stimulus? As a nation, we have borrowed more than 7 Trillion dollars from foreign countries. Interest payments are more than our annual budget. Our representatives have already spent our 2020 budget. Hurricane, tornado, flood, and fire season is coming. How are we going to pay for that? Just borrow more money from the Chinese? Are you okay with a 27 trillion dollars in deficit? That’s 27 with 12 zeros behind it Using taxpayer money to bail out fiscally irresponsible states is wrong. We must stand up and tell the Senate NOT to bail out the states. People are needed to sign an open letter to the Senate to tell them exactly that. The Senate will respond when many Americans speak up...but we must act now before it's too late. Go to this link to sign the letter: rejectbailouts.com
