As the temperatures rise this summer, I want to thank the Friends of the Library for providing our second air conditioner. This is a big building, and everyone has complimented the staff on how nice it is to come in to such a cool reading spot!

The summer blockbuster books are starting to arrive this week. Cindi McCain has written an autobiography of her life with Senator John McCain entitled “Stronger” and non-fiction fans will find this book a fascinating story of their lives. For historical fiction fans “The Last Night in London” by Karen White is a tale of two women during the Second World War during the Blitz, and then in modern times.

Those who love a good thriller, “Sanatorium” by Sarah Pearse is a Gothic tale which takes readers through the isolated Le Sommet, a ritzy five-star hotel which used to be a sanatorium. Missing people, dangerous storms, and terrifying evil makes this a great choice for those who like to be on the edge of their seats.

“The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig is the story of Nora Seed and her encounter with the Midnight Library. The books in the library have the power to let people make different choices in their lives and undo decisions that adversely affected them. Some decisions should not be undone.

Mystery fans will enjoy “The Last Story of Mina Lee” by Nancy Jooyoun Kim, about a daughter who investigates her mother’s mysterious death. This was a Reese’s Book Club selection. And lastly for romance readers, “Finding Ashley” by Danielle Steel is the story of a mother forced to give her child up for adoption years ago. Now leading a better life, the mother goes in search of her daughter.
