September 1926 was like many other Septembers-kids were heading back to school, crops were being harvested, and political articles were common, with a general election just weeks away. Montana voters were asked to approve Good Roads Bill 31 for a one-cent increase in the gas tax to improve and maintain 4700 miles of roads.
