COUSIN CLEAVON'S REDNECK COOKING: Koala Ears

Still traveling around the United States. We recently went to a weird zoo, in Oklahoma. When I say weird, I mean they have a restaurant right next to the zoo that serves the animals that are in the zoo.

The highest-priced item was $100,000, which is Aye-aye soup. I was so fascinated by the different items on the menu, I asked the server to talk to the cook.

The cook walked out of the kitchen like someone had told him his food sucked. As he walked up to me, he looked me dead in the eye, Saying, "What is the problem this time???"

I told him no problem, just want to know what inspires you, and could I have one of your recipes? He was so excited that I was not there to complain, he invited me into the kitchen to learn.

As I walked into the kitchen, I saw a koala being skinned, and a giraffe neck with a salt rub all over it. The cook's name was Jimmy and he has lived in Oklahoma all his life. He was telling me all this as he sliced into the koala. Jimmy said, "I will give you my best-selling recipe, but you can't tell anyone the whole recipe and where I get my meat."

I agreed to his terms, but I had my toes crossed.

INGREDIENTS

2 Koala ears (from a zoo or some despicable poacher in Oz)

Salt and pepper

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 Cup of flour

One egg

Oil

DIRECTIONS:

1. Remove the ear hair by lighting it on fire and then rubbing it with steel wool.

2. In a bowl mix the egg, pinch of salt and pepper, and the garlic powder together.

3. Then dip the ears into the egg mixture and then into the flour.

4. Then throw them into the hot oil to deep fry them.
