A special meeting of the Whitehall Town Council has been called for November 30 to discuss the purchase of a new town ambulance and to discuss the Montana Attorney General's opinion regarding town employees serving on town councils. The Whitehall ambulance had been disabled off and on for about two months with engine problems. The council planned to discuss the specifications of a new ambulance and possibly let bids on purchasing an ambulance. Whitehall town Attorney Jack Morris also requested that Montana Attorney General Joe Mazurek's opinion of the compatibility of town employees serving as town council members be added to the special meeting agenda. It is expected that Morris will report that the town is not in compliance with the attorney general's opinion.

A disagreement about contracted services with Whitehall dispatcher Gail Giono for the Jefferson County Sheriff's office flared up at the November 18 Jefferson County Commission meeting in Boulder. Jefferson County Attorney Valerie Wilson attended the meeting and reported that Giono was operating without a written contract with the county. Jefferson County Sheriff Tom Dawson also attended the meeting and presented the commissioners with a draft contract for Giono and the commission to consider.
