    For the third consecutive year, Whitehall High School has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best high schools in Montana.     While there was plenty of time for good and conversation, the annual Volunteer of the Country Store Christmas Dinner was once again a chance for the organization to give back for the betterment of the Whitehall area. Three grants were awarded at the dinner to local non-profits for a total of $20,000.     I was watching a television show about how stuff is made, and they had an episode about gum. While I still enjoy a piece every now and then, it brought back memories of my childhood. As a little kid, I would always try to get a pack of gum at the store.     The Whitehall High School girls basketball team was dominant last week with two lopsided wins at the Manhattan Tip-Off Tournament. The Trojans opened up play Friday with a convincing 63-20 win over Great Falls Central and went to 3-0 on the season Saturday with a 54-20 victory against Powell County High School.     The Whitehall High School boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season last Friday with a 52-35 win over Great Falls Central. The Trojans started strong at the game played as part of the Manhattan Tip-Off Tournament and would double up the Mustangs with a 28-14 halftime lead.
