Henrietta Asburges was born in Nichols, Iowa, just before the turn of the previous century, on the 15th of April 1899. This small town in South-Eastern Iowa was surrounded by farmsteads. Being of German heritage, even in those early days, the Asburges were looked at with some suspicion when they set up a small farmstead on the outskirts of the farming community. Henrietta, or Retta as she became fondly known, was thus in her 19th year on this Good Earth when War broke out in Europe....
Flu season is still underway and it’s important to protect yourself and your loved ones. Nationally, up to 70% of flu hospitalizations have occurred in patients over 65. Because the immune system naturally weakens with age and older adults don’t always develop the same level of immunity through vaccination as younger people, they may benefit from the additional protection of having those the...

A new Fight Crime: Invest in Kids research report makes a compelling case that recent Congressional preschool investment proposals could provide a strong, long-term, net return on investment (ROI). Montana, for example, could reap an ROI of $240 million if federal early childhood education measures become law. The report, Preschool Key to Boosting School Success and Enhancing Public Safety, noted that the proposal would allow 16,000 more children to attend preschool in Montana alone. Each one of those children represents a lifetime return on...
Searching for a mental health provider? You likely have questions. Recent research from virtual care provider MDLIVE suggests that confusion around finding a mental healthcare provider is common. On February 10th, Congress approved new legislation guaranteeing people who experience sexual harassment in the workplace the right to seek recourse through the courts. More specifically, this bill bans employment contracts from forcing people to settle sexual assault or harassment complaints through the process of arbitration rather than in court. The arbitration process almost always benefits the employer and prevents any misconduct allegations from being publicized. This measure, which is expected to be signed into law by President Biden,...
