Next Friday and Saturday are going to be the two busiest days of the year in Whitehall. The annual Frontier Days event will begin Friday, July 29 and event organizers have a schedule in 2016 that should have something to please all age groups. The work on the 2016 event started at the conclusion of last year’s Frontier Days, and people have spent numerous hours getting things ready. An ambulance district proposed by members of the Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue is now officially on the November 8 ballot. Next week local business owners and managers will get the chance to learn more about wrongful termination and employee manuals at a luncheon hosted by the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce. The hard work of local fire departments and other agencies has kept a 32-acre fire at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine in Whitehall at bay. According to mine General Manager Dan Banghart, fire departments from Whitehall, Harrison, Boulder, Three Forks, Twin Bridges and United State Forest Service all responded to the wildfire that started Saturday afternoon on mine and BLM land.
