    Every spring local residents of all ages come together in downtown Whitehall for the annual Jefferson River Rally/Health and Safety Fair. This year's event is scheduled to take place Friday, May 17 at 11 N.     In late April, community leaders, business owners, and local residents came together to discuss the impacts of a possible closure at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine.     Steffes passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Whitehall, Montana. Chuck was born to Urban Paul Steffes and Helen Mileski Steffes on July 26, 1940, in Traverse City, Michigan. During his youth, he helped with the family store, enjoyed hunting and generally getting into mischief. While there, he had a role in the passage of a state law banning the sale of dynamite to minors. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 and worked on aircraft at what was then the Naval Auxillary Air Station in Meridian, Mississippi. It was during...

    The Whitehall High School tennis team was impressive last week in their lone home event of the season. The Lady Trojans won two out of three contests with a huge 8-1 victory over Three Forks and a 3-1 win over Granite. Head Coach Kerry Sacry said he was pleased with how the team played.
