  • Whitehall PBS Channel 49 moved

    Staff Report|Sep 26, 2018

The local Whitehall PBS TV channel 49 has moved to TV channel 36. The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) recently repurposed a block of frequencies in the upper TV band to make room for more wireless communication devices. The present TV band is being "repacked" nationwide and all TV stations will now operate below channel 37. Lee Good of Whitehall Lower Power TV said on Tuesday they hope to complete the channel change in less than a day and with being off-the-air for an extended period of...

Head Coach Kerry Sacry was pleased with the way his team competed at last Thursday's Butte Invitational at Fairmont, the same course they had their second meet of the season. "Everyone had good times. All the runners liked it better now that we are in better shape," he said. "It was a great meet for us getting ready for the state meet in three weeks. The top individual performance of the day for Whitehall was in the...

  • Our View: Great decision by town council

    Sep 26, 2018

A recent decision by the Whitehall governing body should make a significant difference in the town’s appearance. The town council recently voted to approve a resolution to create a program that will bring residents and business owners together to tackle issues dealing with weeds. This was a great decision by our local leaders and one that will not only be enjoyed by locals, but will also make Whitehall more appealing to those visiting or driving through the area. Earlier this year, Whitehall had a huge turnout for Frontier Days and most of t...

  • Trojans win double overtime thriller

    Jack H. Smith, Whitehall Ledger|Sep 26, 2018

To say last Friday's Whitehall/Harrison High School football teams win over Three Forks was exciting would be an understatement. Trailing 22-14 late in the fourth quarter, the Trojans were able to cut the lead to two on a five-yard Connor Johnson to Cade Briggs touchdown with 58 seconds left in the game. Johnson would then connect with freshman Brendan Wagner on a the two-point conversion to tie the game that would eventually end up in overtime. The dramatics would continue with Whitehall scorin...

One of the biggest highlights of the seasons for the Lady Trojans came last Friday evening during a homecoming tilt against Three Forks. While Whitehall was unable to come away with a victory, they showed significant progress including nearly taking a dramatic back and fourth second set they would eventually lose 26-24. • An all time great: Feight reflects on career, future

    Abe Winter, For the Ledger|Sep 26, 2018

One can only imagine the number of lifetime sports memories Max Feight would have created in his senior year at Whitehall High School. But a vivid memory of one of Montana's top prep athletes will be a crushing injury, basically a 3-in-one happenstance in the first offensive series for the Trojans at Colstrip. The WHS quarterback wasn't even hit, but he heard a pop and there went a full tear of the ACL and partial tears of the meniscus and LCL of his right knee. He was in a scramble mode on the...

  • Fall Festival Saturday in Whitehall

    Jack H. Smith, Whitehall Ledger|Sep 26, 2018

Ann Palmer can remember several years ago when the Whitehall area community would come together on an annual basis to celebrate a large fall festival. This weekend a similar event will return to Whitehall with Saturday’s Homegrown 406 Fall Festival. Palmer who is helping to organize the September 21 event, also helped out with the prior fall festival. She said while the new festival is smaller than ones in the past, it will be a fun time with a lot planned throughout the day. The Homegrown 406 Fall Festival is sponsored by the Whitehall Open A...

  • Column: Chavez Ravine

    Jack H. Smith, Whitehall Ledger|Sep 26, 2018

I watched a lot of baseball growing up. In fact many of my favorites summer memories were watching the Atlanta Braves play on TBS, followed by night games outside with kids in my neighborhood. At the time and for a reason why I to this day can’t understand, the southern based team was in the National League West with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers games would always stand out to me more than the other division rivals, especially because I used to giggle that they would have a man s...
