Montana’s general hunting season has reached the midpoint this week with steady hunter numbers and mixed success rates as recorded at game check stations in southwestern Montana. As ever-increasing food costs and other everyday expenses push more Montanans to local food banks for help, the Town Pump Charitable Foundation is again matching over $1 million to help raise $4 million during its annual fundraising campaign for food banks, including the Whitehall Area Food Pantry and Sincerely Paul Feeding His Sheep Food Bank. Jefferson Valley Fine Arts (JVFA) will not be conducting a Christmas Festival exhibit this year, as in the past. Although we had great artist participation last Festival, there was very little foot traffic. The logistics of providing a one-day show in the middle of winter is difficult for everyone involved and so regrettably the decision was made to cancel this show.
