    Jack H. Smith, Ledger Publisher|Oct 19, 2016

The previously scheduled October 20 hearing to determine if a recall election for five elected officials in Whitehall would move forward, will instead take place at an undetermined date. Earlier this month, Jefferson County Election Administrator Bonnie Ramey moved for the Fifth-Judicial Court in Jefferson County to set a telephone hearing to discuss resetting the date. Ramey made the motion on the grounds the September 20, 2016 death of Mike Fellows, the Libertarian candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, has caused significant...

  • Win and You're In

    Jack H. Smith, Ledger Publisher|Oct 19, 2016

Just moments before kickoff of Whitehall/Harrison's October 14 game against Libby, a storm moved in and rain began to fall onto the FieldTurf at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula. Minutes into the game the rain would dissipate, but it did not stop a frenzied storm on both sides of the ball by the Trojans, who for the second week came out of the gates early and never looked back in a convincing 59-7 neutral site victory. Whitehall (7-1, 2-1 Southern 5B) would score a total of seven...

  • Editorial: Trojans deserve packed crowd

    Jack H. Smith, Ledger Publisher|Oct 19, 2016

This Friday night is a huge one for the Whitehall/Harrison High School football team. They will be playing for a spot in the Class B playoffs that begin next week, and to finish the regular season with an impressive record of 8-1. They will also be honoring the nine seniors on the 2016 team prior to the game. These are all great reasons to come and support the Trojans. There would be nothing better for them to run onto the field in front of a standing room only crowd. The senior class has given fans so many memories on the gridiron. They need...

  • Column: Seriously, a clown?

    Jack H. Smith, Ledger Publisher|Oct 19, 2016

It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I keep hearing about creepy clowns. While that doesn't sound serious, it is. It's all over the Internet, television, and it is even coming up in conversations. The kids have actually come home and said the whole school is talking about clowns. I'm honestly not sure how the whole clown shenanigans began, but it really needs to stop. Even Ronald McDonald has had to scale back promotional appearances because people are getting leery of even friendly clowns. I'm sure some people don't know what I'm talking about,...
