Those who have recently visited the Whitehall Senior Center will have certainly noticed a new Christmas decoration this year. Near the front window of the center sits a "Minnie Mouse" tree that was donated by the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine. The tree was donated to the 19th Annual Festival of Trees by Small Car Clinic, and was designed by Susan Nelson. The mine won the tree as part of the auction at the fundraising event. What a great visit we had with Santa on Saturday! Many of the second through fifth graders are moving closer and closer to completing their first marathon as part of Marathon Kids, a program which promotes physical activity through walking and jogging. Miles are logged and progress is displayed on a bulletin board in the foyer of the elementary school. The Whitehall High School Speech, Drama, and Debate team attended the Dillon meet on Saturday, December 10. According to coach Cathy Kopf, the team placed third for Class B Speech. Last Thursday, the school students made their annual shopping trip for a special child in the Whitehall area. The Cougars hosted Harrison at 4pm that afternoon. Nearly 100 individuals, businesses, and organizations make up the membership of the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce. There was a record number in attendance at the 19th Annual Festival of Trees event that took place last Thursday night at the GranTree Inn in Bozeman. According to Festival of Trees Chairman and Liberty Place Executive Director Ann Geiger, over 290 attended the fundraising event. Through the assistance of two recent grants, the Partners United For Life Saving Education (P.U.L.S.E.) was recently able to donate a Power Load Cot System to Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue.
