    The Whitehall area community will come together for a great cause this weekend at the 14th annual Black Tie Blue Jeans fundraiser. The event will take place Saturday, April 28 at the Whitehall Community Center and has a pre Kentucky Derby theme of "Hats & Horses". According to BTBJ committee member Jill Dove, tickets sales have been going good and have exceeded the number sold in 2017. Dove did however state there are still some tickets available.     With warmer weather just around the corner, it’s once again for some spring-cleaning. The annual Town of Whitehall Spring Cleanup is scheduled for May 1 to 4, and will once again include assistance from Whitehall High School Students. Mayor Mary Janacaro Hensleigh said this is a town wide effort to spruce up Whitehall after a long winter of blowing trash and leaves everywhere.   • BY's 4-H Rodeo slated for next weekend

    The longest running youth rodeo in the state of Montana, the BY's 4-H Club Youth Rodeo is scheduled to take place May 5 at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds. According to event organizers, in 1962 members of the BY's 4-H Club organized a youth rodeo, never knowing it would be such a long running and well known rodeo.     A Whitehall resident was honored Monday for her longtime dedication to local veterans. Doris LeProwse was presented a certificate of appreciation for the countless hours of work she has done to repair American flags. "She is the Betsy Ross of Whitehall. She has saved us hundreds of dollars in flags," Bill Carhuff said. LeProwse, whose husband Fred was active member of the United States Navy for 22 years as a Seabee, does work for the veterans groups free of charge.     The Town of Whitehall is paying tribute to the citizens of Canada. A Canadian Flag was raised at town hall last week in remembrance of the 16 killed when a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior ice hockey team was involved in a crash in Saskatchewan.     Two Whitehall High School athletes shined amidst tremendous competition Tuesday at the Russ Pilcher Top 10 Track and Field Meet in Missoula. Senior Braden Smith finished second in the triple jump, and junior Max Feight finished fifth in the 300 hurdles at 20th annual meet that features the top competitors from all classes in the western side of Montana.     For the past two seasons, Whitehall High School head football coach Dan Lacey has set a high bar for the program with 20 victories, including a run to the state semifinals in 2016.
