December is here and the Library schedule is full of fun holiday activities. Tuesday afternoons, December 6 and 13 at 2:00 p.m. will be the adult ornament making classes. There was a record number in attendance at the 19th Annual Festival of Trees event that took place last Thursday night at the GranTree Inn in Bozeman. According to Festival of Trees Chairman and Liberty Place Executive Director Ann Geiger, over 290 attended the fundraising event. Through the assistance of two recent grants, the Partners United For Life Saving Education (P.U.L.S.E.) was recently able to donate a Power Load Cot System to Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue. It’s once again that time of the year for local residents to show their creative sides at the 18th annual Whitehall Christmas Stroll Wreath Auction. The popular annual event sponsored by the Whitehall Saddle Club, will take place during the Whitehall Christmas Stroll starting at 7 p.m. at the Whitehall Community Center. The Speech, Drama, and Debate team attended their first meet on Saturday November 19th in Townsend. The team did well with tough competition from schools in classes AA, A, B, and C also attending. Whitehall High School students are just days away from their performance of "Arsenic and Old Lace". The annual fall play at the school is scheduled for Monday, November 21 and Tuesday November 22. Both performances are slated for 7 p.m. Drama Director Cheri Shaw said the play written in 1939 by Joseph Kesselring is a classic, and really fit with the cast she has. Shaw said there are 20 kids including stage crew participating, and the play has very challenging roles for her senior cast members....
The LDS Church Harvest Dinner is scheduled for Friday, November 18. The popular annual event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church located at Mormon Lane and Yellowstone in Whitehall. All proceeds from the event will go to the Whitehall Food Pantry. The suggested donation is $6 per person or $25 for a family. The Whitehall Chamber of Commerce is inviting all local businesses to participate in the 1st Annual Christmas Light Contest. According to the Chamber, the contest is a way of encouraging the entire Whitehall Community to decorate and beautify businesses during the winter holiday season. The deadline to enter is December 1 at 3 p.m. Buildings must be fully decorated and lit by December 9. Judging will take place during the Christmas Stroll on December 10. The Whitehall Chamber of Commerce has elected a new Vice President and two new board members for 2017. At their annual Business Meeting Monday, Chamber members elected Don Chlebeck as Vice President, and Nick Jenkins and Jan Thorne to the Board of Directors. The kids gave recipes to the after school program teachers for the cookbook. My mom wrote my recipe for me, and I wrote my name where it says "from ____________ kitchen". With the Holidays just around the corner, the Whitehall Food Pantry received a significant donation from the Knights of Columbus Council 8375 in Whitehall. According to Knights of Columbus Secretary Bob Casagrande, the organization decided at their November meeting that with the Holiday season coming up, they would donate $1,500 to the Whitehall Food Pantry, and $500 to the Ennis Food Bank.
