    The Whitehall School Board of Trustees voted last week to approve BinaxNOW, a rapid antigen test for COVID-19. The use of the tests is voluntary for both students and staff. During a presentation, School Nurse Mary Beth Hunter stressed this is not mass testing, it is not asymptomatic testing, and it is not mandatory.     While organizers were unable to move forward with the traditional Christmas Stroll scheduled for Saturday, December 12, the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce is still putting together a family-friendly holiday celebration for local residents.     Covenant Community Church, along with others in the Whitehall area, is planning a Community Christmas Celebration on December 20th, at 4 p.m. on the lawn of The Education Station, located on the corner of Legion and Division Streets.     Twelve Montana counties including Jefferson y have officially founded the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority to advocate for the return of passenger rail service across southern Montana. The finalized joint resolution, fully executed last week, seals the commissioner actions and provides for the appointment of one representative from each county to serve on the authority.     As many may have noticed, as small town changes are always noticed, P.U.L.S.E. and the Jefferson Valley EMS are now housed in what used to be the Whitehall Drug Store. This prominent location on Legion Street was made possible with assistance provided by the Jefferson Valley Rural Ambulance District. She was born September 8, I926 to Jesse and Ethel (Giles) Gambee at Harrison, Montana where she attended grade school and received her high school letter. She moved to Whitehall in 1942 and graduated from Whitehall High School in 1944.   • Rotary Club Completes Another Year of Service

    Despite a restricted year, Whitehall Rotarians were still able to complete service projects and several ongoing fundraisers. Dishcloths sales were done during Frontier Days and would have been offered during the Christmas Stroll. The dish cloths are, however, still available by contacting Joan Jones at 287-5520 or Karen Burtch at Mountain View Real Estate.     Christmas is fast approaching in the Jefferson Valley. Candlelight tours of the caverns are the first big event of December as a promotion of Morrison Cave. A special dinner was held at the Palm with 40 visitors (at least 21 were influential men from around the state) and close to that many locals attended. Our local band played music outside of the Palm so everyone could enjoy the tunes. After dinner, twenty-one boarded the train for a ride to the cavern area.     Heaven welcomed a sassy 5’2 angel on December 4th, 2020. Gay passed away in her home of congestive heart failure with three daughters at her side. She was born June 9, 1946 in Livingston and spent her younger years in Big Timber.
