The Whitehall Recreation Complex Board was presented a proposal for a Ranch Rodeo during Frontier Days by Town Clerk Kennedy Kleinsasser at the June meeting of the Board. Whitehall's annual weekly event - the Whitehall Farmer's Market - will begin Saturday, June 17 in Legion Park. The market is open to all home-based businesses, community fundraising groups, and those with vintage or repurposed goods to sell. Dear Editor, I would like to make a comment about the way people in town drive. Somebody in a red truck pulled out to make a left turn right in front of me today at the Conoco station intersection and if I hadn't slammed on my brakes, I would have T-boned him right in the driver's door. Our Summer Feeding program began on June 12th, but I wanted to remind everyone that there are free lunches at the Library every day, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. The family of Leeanne Wasia will be celebrating her beautiful yet short life on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11 AM at 405 W Legion in the Legion Center. A hunter killed a grizzly bear in self-defense last week in the Madison Range southeast of Ennis. The person was hunting black bears in a remote parcel of private land in the backcountry on June 5 when he was charged by a grizzly bear. The hunter shot and killed the bear with a pistol and was not injured. The hunter notified Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks the same day. This lovely little Clarks Nutcracker stopped by Jill Honer's home just the other day to say hello. Honer sent this picture to the Ledger along with a little history on the little bird. Hiking and camping season is upon us. People come from every state just to camp and hike in Montana. Our woods are bountiful and amazing. But when you go hiking and camping you are plagued by bloodsuckers called ticks. Sometimes you get one or two ticks on you and sometimes even more.
