The brave and hard working members of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department will be honored as the Grand Marshals of the 2017 Whitehall Frontier Days Parade. The Whitehall Town Council voted 4 to 1 to approve a new lease with Community Beacon of Hope Inc. (CBOH) at a special meeting Monday night. Alderman Joe Adams was the lone vote against the updated lease agreement. For the second consecutive month there was increase in the number of full time employees at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine. At the Community Transition Advisory Committee meeting last week, General Manager Dan Banghart reported there were two new full time employees at the mine. He said the number of full times employees at the mine is now 50. The number had been 44 in May. There is one regional Barrick employee, and 84 contract employees currently at the site. Hi Folks, At last week’s regular meeting, we approved a Large Group Function Permit for Rockin’ the Rivers, contingent on the Sanitarian giving her final approval. We decided to purchase a building on Main Street in Boulder that is owned by Goldfields mining and Montana Tunnels. The cost of the building will be used to offset some of the delinquent taxes that are owed from Montana Tunnels. High water temperatures and low stream flows have prompted Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to implement “hoot owl” restrictions on several rivers in Southwest Montana starting Wednesday, July 19.
