    Three women were injured by an otter Wednesday, August 2, 2023, about three miles upstream from Sappington Bridge. The women, who were floating the river on innertubes were approached and attacked; all three sustained injuries; Stephanie Johnson, of Bozeman, was life-flighted by helicopter to Bozeman Deaconess.     Allegations of animal abuse, a puppy mill, and more have been made by Todd Preece against Michael and Roberta Coffey, who own property at 178 Ringing Rocks Road. The 100-acre property abuts Preece’s. Preece feels that the animals on the Coffey property are mistreated, malnourished and that the couple is “thumbing their nose” at the police.     The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of human remains located in a remote area outside of Elk Park in Jefferson County. The remains were discovered by recreationists late Monday night, June 26.     With Frontier Days just a month away, the Whitehall Recreation Complex Board is under a time crunch to get sponsors, donations, and the arena ready to roll for the Ranch Rodeo on July 29th.
