After spending the first several weeks of the season on the road, the Whitehall High School tennis team will open their home schedule this week. Local fans will have the opportunity to watch the Lady Trojans three times in five days. Whitehall will be one of three locations hosting this weekends DAWG B.I.T.E. Tournament. Whitehall Little Guy Wrestling team wrapped up their season at the SW MT State Little Guy Wrestling Tournament in Belgrade on March 18th. Whitehall had 35 wrestlers place at the Divisional tournament in Three Forks on March 11th to qualify for and participate in Belgrade for state competition. The Whitehall High School track team had some strong individual performances at their season opening meet Saturday at the Sheridan Invite in Dillon. Leading the way for Whitehall was junior Braden Smith who placed in all five of his events. Smith finished third in the triple jump and 200 meters, fourth in the high jump and 100, and fifth in the long jump. “That’s a full load and he competed very well,” said head coach Dan Lacey. A total of 11 individuals and four teams were inducted last Saturday night to the Whitehall High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Among the teams that were honored at the second annual ceremony in front of a packed house at the high school was the 1997 state runner up volleyball team. Hall of Fame Board member Shane Shaw said 100 percent of the team made it to the ceremony. It was quite the season for the nine girls on the Whitehall Elementary girls basketball team. The team recently wrapped up their season with a perfect record in the Butte Elementary 5th grade Basketball League. It will be an equal mix of youth and experience for the Whitehall High School tennis team when they open the season March 31 in Livingston. Just one week into practice, it’s looking like it could be great 2017 season for the Whitehall High School track team. The Whitehall Little Guy Wrestling program hosted the first tournament of the Little Guy Wrestling Season. Parents, high school wrestlers, and community volunteers helped make this a successful event.
