Ann Palmer can remember several years ago when the Whitehall area community would come together on an annual basis to celebrate a large fall festival. This weekend a similar event will return to Whitehall with Saturday’s Homegrown 406 Fall Festival. Palmer who is helping to organize the September 21 event, also helped out with the prior fall festival. A new committee of Whitehall residents and business owners will soon be working together to address weed problems within town limits. The Jefferson Valley Rural Ambulance District Board voted late last month to accept a Request for Proposal from Partners United for Live Saving Education (PULSE)/Jefferson Valley Emergency Medical Services and Rescue. PULSE/JVEMSR will now provide ambulance service for the district, which includes the Whitehall School District, excluding the town limits of Whitehall and Sliver Bow and Madison Counties. The Whitehall High School cross county team once again had solid times at last Tuesday's Butte Central Meet at the Fairmont Golf Course. Junior Madison Loomis was the lone Trojan to compete in the varsity race and she did not disappoint. Loomis finished seventh out of 35 runners with a time of 23:35.3. Earlier this summer, art from local residents was placed on the wall at the facility located at 207 E. Paving has begun on the Montana Department of Transportation South Roadways Project. Melissa Shannon of Strategies 360 reported the second lift (paving) started August 20 on MT HWY 55. She said the second lift will smooth the road out and travelers will no longer have to drive on gravel, adding paving is expected to continue through the month of August.
