Production was on target during October at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine. At the Community Transition Advisory Committee meeting last Thursday, Mine General Manager Dan Banghart said the production for the month was 4,000 ounces, on par with their budget and forecast. Banghart did however state they ran into some problems in the mill because of a different type of ore than they have seen recently, but they will make adjustments for the mill run this week. A new event the 2017 Whitehall Christmas Stroll should be a crowd pleaser for the entire family. A Gingerbread House Contest is scheduled to take place at the event scheduled for December 9. There will be a new ambulance district in Jefferson County. In a special election Tuesday, local voters approved the formation of the Jefferson Valley Rural Ambulance District in the Whitehall area. According to Jefferson County Election Administrator Bonnie Ramey, the rural ambulance district was approved by a vote of 372 to 188. The district does not include the Town limits of Whitehall. After a successful inaugural “Toys for Tots” charity event in 2016, Star Theater Manager Colton Anderson has high hopes for 2017. The 2017 event will be a combined effort between the theater and Whitehall High School. From Friday, November 17 to Saturday, November 19, the theater will be playing the film “Walking Out”. There was recently some great news for Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue (JVEMS) when they were notified of a grant award from the Montana Department of Transportation. According to Grant Bureau Chief Audrey Allums, JVEMS has been awarded grant funding for three Stryker Power Cots, one Stryker Power Loader, two Stryker Rail Systems and 1 Zoll x-series Monitor.
