It’s interesting that there is four of each day of the week this February. Don’t believe that it only happens every 823 years or whatever. And don’t fall for the line that if you send it on to x number of people you will receive lots of money. It’s nice to have someone to check this sort of thing out for me. Last week I told you that Savannah Rossiter would not be returning to Cardwell for the 2017-2018 school year. Well, Patti Hanley has chosen to not renew her teaching position as third and fourth grade teacher, as well. Both of these l...

Growing up in Indiana, Whitehall resident Bonnie Graham showed an early interest in art. She took inspiration from her father who she said saw the beauty in everything, and would encourage her budding love of drawing. Last Sunday afternoon, an Artists Reception took place at Boulder Hot Springs to showcase her drawings on display through March in the resorts dining room. While the day was already extremely important as a chance for Graham to showcase her work, it took on even more significance...
Friday was a perfect day for skiing at Great Divide North of Helena. All of the students of the school boarded the school buses and made it a day of fun in the sun. Extras tagged along, too. Nice it was Friday. They could sleep in on Saturday. Trish Reiss headed up the planning and decorating crew for the Valentine Dinner at the Cardwell Church. Red Apron Catering served prime rib (it was delicious!), along with baked potatoes, etc. Cindy Brennan and her helper always prepare a great tasting meal. Games to keep the crowd busy as the food line...

Like many people around the country, I am currently watching “Victoria” on television every week. It is a wonderful historical drama about the life of Queen Victoria, one of Great Britain’s longest ruling monarchs. She was only 18 years old when she ascended the throne in June of 1837 and during her lifetime her children and grandchildren would rule over many of the countries in Europe. Victoria reigned for over sixty years until her death in 1901. She was an interesting woman who spoke English, German, French, Italian and Latin; as well as be...

A couple of weeks ago, Donna Clark’s daughter, Shelley, passed away quite suddenly. When seeking to have the obituary published in the Montana Standard we discovered that depending on the day of the week, the cost would vary. For instance, instead of $79.00 ($89.00 with a photo), it was going to $108.00 for just the obituary!! We understood that that price included the photo, (which was sent but never received). However, to have a photo along with the obit, it would be $119.00! The letter to the editor of the Standard was never published, e...
