Trinity M. Klein was charged in December with vehicular homicide while under the influence, stemming from the death of Jakob Allen Washburn in mid-August. Klein is currently 19, Washburn was 24 at the time of his death. The crime reportedly occurred during a domestic dispute between the two. Klein has been described as Washburn’s girlfriend at the time. January 30, 1997 According to a statistical report recently published by Montana State University, Whitehall and the surrounding area are not only growing in population, but the growth is among the highest in Montana. The report shows the population in Jefferson County grew 13.2 percent from 1990 through 1994, which ranks the county in fourth place in Montana.
