After a lengthy discussion, the Whitehall Town Council voted 3-2 last Tuesday to hire Ron Noe as a third public works employee. Council members Logan Reiff and Shawn Hoagland voted in approval of the hiring, and members Gary Housman and Katy James voted against. The Golden Sunlight Mine's tailings processing project is one step closer to reality. A tailings reprocessing project could breathe new life into the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine near Whitehall. Lighting was the cause of the McClusky Fire that started August 16 approximately three miles northeast of Delmoe Lake and 13 miles northwest of Whitehall. The fire is burning in lodgepole pine in steep, rugged, inaccessible terrain with high concentrations of standing dead trees and logs on the ground. A fundraiser is being planned for former Whitehall High School Student, Jack Racicot, who was active in the football and drama programs during his time at WHS.
