The hot topic of discussion at the December Whitehall School Board meeting, held Monday, December 13, was the results of the 4-day school week survey. Superintendent Hannah Nieskens presented the following information, collected from the survey, which was sent in November to all parents of students in K-12. A total of 145 survey results were collected. Headwaters RC&D is currently working on the five-year update to the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and needs your help. The CEDS is a document that is updated every five years for the Economic Development Administration. Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park will again host holiday candlelight tours of the entire developed cave route. This special event allows visitors to see and enjoy the caverns by the warm, festive glow of candle lanterns. Participants must make a reservation prior to their tour. On December 7, 2022, Richard Joe Hollamon left his beloved wife and family to be with his Lord and Savior. Richard was born on December 1st, 1942 in Drain, Oregon to Joseph and Lois (MacDonald) Hollamon. Richard was the second oldest of nine children. December 10, 1997 John Jardine, 75, one of Whitehall’s most cherished and prominent residents, died in a plane crash on Sunday, December 7th, when the airplane he was in collided in mid-air with another private airplane about 10 miles north of Bozeman. With the support of many community members, Whitehall hosted 25 teams and over 300 wrestlers, including 45 girls wrestling in their own competition. After three days of wrestling, Whitehall wrestlers finished in fourth place. Others placing included Three Forks (first), North Fremont, ID (second), and Jefferson (third). The Trojans beat Shields Valley Friday, December 9th 55-42 with a great defensive effort by the entire team! Sophomores Ashton Pochelon and Joe Denny had gutsy performances to lead the team offensively. Pochelon led the team with 18 points and Denny had 10 off the bench. The girls played Shields Valley Friday and won 47-22, with nine different girls scoring for the Trojans. Senior Maxine Hoagland and Lauren Cima both had 11 a piece. On Saturday the Ladies played Manhattan Christian and lost 49-31, Junior Lindsay Briggs led the team with 11. The Lady Trojans will face some really good teams before Christmas, which will really test where the team is at. In each game, the girls are getting better at doing the small things which will help them reach their end goals....
