Wed., Jan. 22, 1992 Hashing out the needs of the Whitehall School District’s building facilities was the only item on the agenda of a special meeting held Wed., Jan. 15. Volunteers at the Museum are really glad to have John Joy back in the mix. Health issues kept him isolated for a few months, but along with the 7 others trying to get back into their routines, he just picked up where he had left off. The key word at a museum is DETAIL! When the barn was being developed into the Museum, Roy told us that the office wasn’t big enough -- he was so right. The files grow and work space is shared and it won’t be long before that map case will getting the attention that has been so needed. The Library is looking for...

  • Principal's Principles

    Britt McLean, Whitehall K-5 Principal|Jan 11, 2017

January is a month full of cold and winter. January also reminds us of portions of our life that may need improving or revamping (New Year’s Resolutions). It is funny how motivated we are to start something new, or continue something started because of a resolution. As I pondered what my resolution should be, I was reminded of work and what was accomplished in 2016. As a professional, my goal is to help continue making Whitehall the best elementary school it can possibly become. Our students here are the best and are also why educators c...

  • Teen gives back

    Jack H. Smith, Ledger Publisher|Jan 4, 2017

While many kids his age are hoping for video games or a new cell phone for their birthday, this wasn't the case for 13-year-old Kaden Weber. The seventh grade student at Whitehall Middle School instead asked for something much more valuable that in turn showed the true spirit of giving. Kaden...

9 passed into history as I finished reading a book, "The Insanity of God" by Nik Ripken. An easy read, very difficult content. Followers of Jesus Christ worldwide are persecuted, imprisoned and even killed. We take so much for granted. This is a quote from one of the many people that have survived the persecution. "Don't you ever give up in freedom what we would never give up in persecution---and that is our witness to the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ." In II Peter we are told to "always be ready to give an answer for the hope...

No one had to dream of a white Christmas! The white fluffy stuff (called snow) was beautiful but created a variety of situations - cattle feeding, highway hazards. On the other hand, it provided the perfect setting for skis and sleds. In Job 38:22, God asked Job if he had “entered the treasures of the snow”? That’s interesting. Also, there is nothing whiter than snow. Check it out. LilyAnna Howell turned four and celebrated at home with family and friends. The kids destroyed the pinata and enjoyed the filling. She also was the guest of honor...

A year ago Ken and Linda Glaus had their cattle the victims of an out of control semi truck whose driver didn't pay attention to the flagman and was not able to stop soon enough. That situation could have been so much worse - loss of human life. Moving livestock on Montana highways is not uncommon. The five mile trip from the Carmody ranch to bring the cattle home is usually uneventful. Prayer for this time was offered up and even in a heavy snow storm, the cattle arrived home safely. A...
