    Fire crews are continuing to battle the McClusky fire that was caused by lighting August 16 three miles northeast of Delmoe Lake and 13 miles northwest of Whitehall.     Steve Andersen is the new Jefferson County Justice of the Peace. According to County Clerk and Recorder Bonnie Ramey, Andersen was appointed by the Jefferson County Commissioners at their August 20 meeting. He was one of five candidates who filed to fill the seat of Dean Hildebrand who resigned this summer. He was sworn in Wednesday, August 21.   • Lightning sparks fire near Delmoe Lake

    Lighting was the cause of the McClusky Fire that started August 16 approximately three miles northeast of Delmoe Lake and 13 miles northwest of Whitehall. The fire is burning in lodgepole pine in steep, rugged, inaccessible terrain with high concentrations of standing dead trees and logs on the ground.   • Fundraiser for Jack Racicot Planned for September 7th

    A fundraiser is being planned for former Whitehall High School Student, Jack Racicot, who was active in the football and drama programs during his time at WHS. On February 16, 2019, Jack was paralyzed from the neck down in a snowboarding accident. He is currently in the Salt Lake City area for rehabilitation.     A 31-year-old was arrested in the early morning hours on July 28 following a home invasion in Whitehall. According to Jefferson County Sheriff Craig Doolittle, the department received a call at 4:55 a.m. from a resident on 2nd Street West who reported he had woken up and found someone in his bedroom. The final roadway striping is currently scheduled to begin on MT 55 on Thursday, July 25 and is expected to take two to three days.
