A new addition will be quite the asset to the Piedmont Family Fishing Pond. Last week an all-concrete picnic shelter was delivered and set up at the site two miles from downtown Whitehall. A 33-year-old Butte resident arrested following a shooting late Tuesday night in Whitehall was released Wednesday on a $100,000 bond. Daniel Adams was changed with attempted deliberate homicide in a shooting that was reported to have taken place during an altercation in an alleyway in the south area of town at 10:55 p.m. According to Jefferson County Sheriff Craig Doolittle, a 33-year-old victim was shot with a small-caliber handgun. The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department responded to two truck fires last week. On Saturday morning, the department sent a total of four trucks to a semi truck fire on Interstate 90. Whitehall Fire Chief Jeremy Ward, the fire started on the rear trailer of the semi that was carrying trim boards. Under a bright spotlight, five members of the Whitehall/Harrison High School football team put on quite the performance at last Saturday's Class B All-Star game in Billings. The Whitehall governing body voted Monday to move town offices and public works operations to the former ambulance barn located at 207 E. Legion. The Council voted 4-1 to approve the measure. Voters in Jefferson County approved Tuesday a ballot measure that will permanently increase tax liability to generate an estimated $29,485 per year for the Jefferson Valley Search and Rescue in and the Elkhorn Search and Rescue. In June of 2017, over 1,000 spectators made their way through the gates at the Montana Mule Days at the Rodeo Grounds in Whitehall. The three-day event will return to Whitehall this week with a record 151 classes planned from June 8 to 10. The schedule is just about complete for the 2018 Whitehall/Harrison High School football team. It was the end of one journey and the start of another last Sunday for the Whitehall High School Class of 2018. A total of 25 students graduated at the afternoon ceremony in Varsity Gym. The Friday before Memorial Day, the fourth grade class of Donna Loomis made their way to the Whitehall Cemetery to place United States Flags at the graves of Veterans. Loomis, who also serves as a Colonel in the Montana Air National Guard, said the project was part of a civics lesson where the students learned about the origins of Memorial Day. It was a special night last Wednesday at Cardwell School for Avery Coombe, Judith Engler, and Westin Scheller who were all honored as eighth-grade graduates.
