The Whitehall High School Cross Country team faced stiff competition at last Saturday’s Mountain West Classic in Missoula. The boy’s varsity race featured 410 runners from 65 high schools, many of them from Montana Class A and AA. Whitehall senior Hunter Flynn had the top time for the Trojans. The Whitehall High School volleyball team had a great performance last Saturday at the Windy City Classic Tournament in Varsity Gym. In pool play, Whitehall was able to pick up a 25-11, 25-12 win over Harrison, and a 25-24, 25-5 victory over West Yellowstone. The members of the Whitehall Junior High rodeo team shined earlier this month at the Montana High School Rodeo Association Junior High Rodeo. Competing in front of their home fans, Whitehall had several first place and multiple top ten finishes. Eighth-grader Garris Robertson had a great overall rodeo. His two-day average was good enough for first place in both calf roping and team roping with partner Gage Duncan of Belgrade. Prior to the start of Sunday's action at the local Montana High School Rodeo Association and Junior High Rodeo, Whitehall's Cole Dunagan was recognized as a senior class member competing at his last home event. Year in and out, local junior high and high school rodeo competitors and their families make numerous trips across the state. This weekend they won’t have to travel and get the chance to compete in front of a home crowd at the annual Whitehall High School and Junior High Rodeo. According to head coach Kerry Sacry, around 12 teams will be at the meet scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The meet will feature both middle school and high school competitors from across Southwest Montana. It was a great time for a great cause last weekend at the Whitehall baseball fields. Whitehall's Second Annual Charity Softball Co-Ed Tournament took place both Saturday and Sunday, and once again helped out with a worthwhile cause. When the Whitehall High School volleyball team took to the court last weekend in Manhattan, they did so for the first time under new head coach Lauren McDonald. A former coach at the middle school, McDonald has told her squad that it doesn't matter what class they are in or what their last name is.
